My Valentine's started early this year. Well, to be honest, I believe this is the first year I've actually had a Valentine's day for me since Austin and I started dating. Anyway, it started on Thursday. Austin and I met up for lunch and his face was sparkling, literally. I said "why do you have glitter on your face?" He made up some random excuse and then we sat down to eat. He then gave me my very first card EVER from him! Which, by the way, had glitter on it. =) Now, I will have to tell you that I am a huge card person. I have cards, letters, and notes saved since middle school. So this is a major deal for me to receive my first card from Austin! I was SO excited!
Then Friday after I got home from work, Austin called me into our room, and there was the most beautiful thing!
How beautiful is she??? Barcus Berry Red Sunburst acoustic & electric violin! My violin was stolen about nine years ago and Austin has been waiting and saving up for this for me! We had talked about it for my birthday and Christmas, but it just so happens that it was delivered for Valentine's. I am going to have to relearn to play, but I am ecstatic to pick it up again!
As if that wasn't enough...
I came home from work on Saturday around 6pm. I got a phone call from my sister wondering what we were doing for dinner, so I invited her over. I am in the middle of making stirfry and Austin comes into the kitchen and tells me to get my shoes and coat on. I am completely confused and just stand there like I don't know what to do. So my sister says, "I think you'd better put your shoes and coat on." And I say, "But what about dinner?" Jen says, "I think I can handle it. Go!" Ok, so Austin tells me he has something to show me and tells the girls we won't be gone long. I am so dumbfounded. We go downtown and end up walking into the Embassy Theater. I still have no idea. We walk in to see the Fort Wayne Philharmonic! They did a Valentine's show with Linda Eder (a vocalist.) Amazing! So amazing! My husband is amazing! And I am in shock that he was actually able to pull off this surprise! He is NO GOOD at keeping surprises/secrets.
We get home and on our nightstand are these beautiful flowers...
The girls (along with Jee's help) made these wonderful foam flowers with a foam vase for us. Best flowers I've ever received! The next morning I told Chali I loved the flowers so much. And I said, "These are the best flowers ever. Do you know why? Because they will never die and I will be able to look at them forever. This is the best gift!" And Chali, my little 5 year old Chali, says "No, the best gift, is love." You are so right Chali, you are so right!
